Jesus said, “Everyone who sins is a slave to sin…” To live in sin is slavery. Sin owns you. “But if the Son of God sets you free…” (John 8:34, 36) Through Christ’s death on the cross, appropriated by your faith in Him, the power of sin is broken and His resurrection power, through the Holy Spirit, enters into your life. This begins in you, new — eternal life, that lives and grows in you. In Jesus, there are no slaves, only sons and daughters reborn by the Spirit of God. In Him, "You are truly free.”
Jesus said, “Here I am, it is written about me... I have come to do your will, O God.” (Hebrews 10:7) Once, the desire and power to do the will of God were not in you. But through the Spirit of Jesus, His desire and His power enter into your soul, freeing you to discern God’s will and do it. And when you fail, the death of Jesus covers your failures, and His life picks you back up and puts you back on the true path of life. The Bible says, “The Lord is the Spirit and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17) If the Spirit of Jesus lives in you, then you are truly free.
All of this is a free gift from God, for those who will freely receive. And it comes with an invitation to all who will accept. The Spirit and all believers say, “Come.” “Anyone who is willing is welcome to come and take the free gift of the Water of Life.” (Revelation 22:17) Again, acceptance appropriates the gift. The free gift of the Water of Life is the Spirit — bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ for all people who will receive Him. His Spirit becomes the infilling source of eternal life in all who believe and receive Jesus.
Jesus is standing at the door of your life, knocking. Invite Him in and enter with all believers into a personal relationship with God. Knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ, whom He sent, is eternal life.
